Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills who report directly to Parliament while remaining independent and impartial. Ofsted inspect and regulate services which care for children and young people and those providing education and skills for learners of all ages (including childminders).


The Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years supports childminders to provide a high standard of care and learning for children, as well as support and advice for parents.

The Families Information Service

The Families Information Service (FIS) provide a telephone, internet and outreach service, dedicated to providing accurate information for childcare providers and parents and carers with children from birth to 20 years old in Kingston and the surrounding areas. The FIS offer free information, advice and guidance on childcare, education, leisure activities, training and careers in childcare, including information and lists of registered childminders, day nurseries, pre-schools and playgroups.

Foundation Years

The Foundation Years website is an indispensable site to support professionals working with children and also families in the foundation years.  It is a one stop shop for resources, information and the latest news on the foundation years.  There is also a dedicated parents area packed with information for all families in England with children under the age of 5.

CPD Online - Achieving for Children (AfC)

This is the booking system for training, forums and briefings for Kingston and Richmond Ofsted registered childminders and those in the registration process.
